Endure the Adaptations

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

By Kellen Lounsbury

Who are you? I mean yes, you probably have hobbies and interest, but who are you as a person. Do you really know yourself? When is the last time that you sat down and meditated and asked yourself “Who am I? What life do I want to live and lead?” What is the life that you truly envision for yourself? What does it consist of, who are you inside of this vision?

Every day presents us with a series of moments, some of these moments lead us on deep and meaningful adventures where we have some of the most monumental experiences of our lives. While other times we face extensive amounts of adversity and struggle. Hard times like these are also great opportunities to grow and cultivate a mindset that is not easily wavered. Both of these are tools for the individual who is willing to endure the trials of life. Just because you have moments of misfortune does not mean that you are not en route to a better life. It is a stimulus that drives adaptations, it is a stressor that causes a flux in a response. For each occasion that presents itself disguised as a dilemma is a passage to a better life. This is what drives growth, if we didn’t have the struggles of daily life then we wouldn’t have the opportunity to become our best selves. It is these challenges that lay way to a battlefield for us to show what type of warriors we really are. What we are really capable of. Don’t fear making mistakes out there, when we make those mistakes we present ourselves with the ability to learn. It’s a rarity to ever get anything right on your first try, I’m not saying it is impossible, but I am saying that some of the strongest qualities are built out of the roughest pasts. Don’t stop or doubt yourself because you make a mistake, acknowledge what you need to do differently and make a measurable and actionable plan to see that happen. Fear is what holds many people back, but to fear making a mistake or not doing your best keeps you from ever starting, from ever being able to grow from these misfortunes. If we left every stone unturned because we couldn’t pick the right stone the first time, no stones would move. Don’t fall victim to this, turn stones and learn as you go.

Do not take this moment for granted,

Whatever challenges that you are facing,

Whatever pains you are enduring,

Whatever doubts you may be holding, it is day one of a brand new opportunity for your life. Rise to the occasion and think back to that time you envisioned the best life you could for yourself. That is not the limit, that is the goal, that is the direction, and that is the life you are capable of living. - K.
